When Instagram Just Won't Cut It
All it takes to make a beautiful photograph is a decent camera, some good lighting, and the willpower to Macguyver yourself a suitable rig to work with. While I haven't had the opportunity to shoot in a studio setting, I've found some creative workarounds to yield excellent photos, often with things found around your typical office.
My favorite challenge has been figuring out how to photograph balaclavas with slinky fabric. Without a proper head and neck form to sculpt the product, I've utilized a plastic mannequin head witch special cuts to fit onto a pole. In order to let the fabric around the neck flow down properly, I channeled my inner origami artist and manipulated the folds of the fabric to lay as naturally as possible given the circumstances.
